Sep. 30th, 2012 01:29 pmI'm only a few hundred words shy of hitting 25k on Skinship, my Big Bang fic, which means I'm about halfway to my goal of 50k, but I'm beginning to think it's going to be longer than that which is okay, I guess. Just... XD By getting to 29k, it'll be the longest Hikago fic I've written. So, the fact that it's going to dwarf everything else is a little... weird to me.
Still, I'm finding the story interesting to write, even if I keep having to stop and do research because I realize that the process of having a kid in America (which I've done) and Japan (which I have *not* done) are entirely different animals. At not quite half "done", I couldn't even tell you how much more story there is because I'm still attacking this story with my usual fic mode of "just write until it's done!"
I did have this idea and chose it for Big Bang because it was a little more open-ended than my usual ideas. It's something that has the potential for a ton of angst, but I'm choosing not to go too much in that direction because, well, blah. If I liked angst, you'd see me write a lot more of it. XD
I'm rather enjoying this writing around 1k a day thing because it does force me to keep the story in mind and the progress is, well, nice to see. It breeds its own continuation because just that feeling of knowing that I'm moving ever-closer to the end is enthralling.

cottoncandy_bingo card yet and while I have other things to work on, none of them are quite catching my muse yet. So I'll push myself to 25k or maybe even 26k today because I'm in a moment of the fic where it's not so much pushing as going with the flow. XD
I did write a piece about Ichikawa Harumi last night. I wanted to do more with it, but I wasn't feeling it. It ended up being much more of an Ichikawa/Ogata piece than I had intended and didn't have as much of the female empowerment as I wanted to imbue it with, but I think that's because I don't necessarily see that as part of Ichikawa's character. She isn't exactly living out her dreams by working as a counter girl, but she must be content with it because she is there for the entirety of the series.
In other fandom news, I'm finally watching Kuroko no Basket. I'm on episode 8 now. The first episode... didn't really catch my attention much, but I'm glad I watched more. I've had a few little blips of fic ideas, but I'm going to watch more before I even attempt to write anything because I don't know the characters well enough yet. That's a slight failing of shonen anime/manga sometimes in that action *can* help to further characterization (like Hikaru's outside-of-the-box moves) but a lot of times it does not. It's a main reason why shonen series tend to run so much longer, I think. ^_^
Also, made mochi last night. Yummy, but hubby doesn't seem to like them. He said they tasted like sweet breast implants. XD Eh, *I* think they're good. And I'm making a batch of anko right now so... more mochi! I might even make some ichigo daifuku because they are amazing. I remember a time when I made faces at the idea of bean paste, and then I tried anpan and various kinds of mochi and... now I'm hooked.
And now... back to writing. XD
